Frequently Asked Questions
Ways for Parents to Get Involved
Our schools actively encourage parental involvement and provide numerous ways to contribute. Parents can participate in PTO meetings, volunteer for programs like the Christmas Store, Lunch PALS, and Teacher PALS, serve as classroom readers, and support students by attending plays, band and choir performances, sporting events, and academic club activities. Additional opportunities include joining booster clubs, substitute teaching, and more, ensuring every parent can find a meaningful way to engage.
Financial Support and Oversight
For EPS to receive funding, EPS is required to teach the Oklahoma Academic Standards. Our most recent audit performed by Mr. Kerry John Patten, C.P.A. gave EPS a superior rating on the tracking of all funds and no improprieties were found.
Curriculum and Literary Landscape
Parents possess a fundamental right to understand the comprehensive details of educational curriculum, and I am actively engaged in a collaborative review process that strategically involves both parents and teachers to ensure transparency, accountability, and shared educational oversight.
Student Transportation Services
All the information about finding your bus stop or requesting a new bus stop can be found on the EPS District site.
Student Health and Immunization Requirements
Oklahoma’s vaccine requirements and exemptions for schools are determined by the state. Any vaccine mandate would need to be enacted by the Oklahoma Legislature.

Enhancing School Safety with School Resource Officers
The ongoing partnership between Edmond Public Schools and the Edmond Police Department has allowed us to have outstanding School Resource Officers (SROs) on site. In January 2022, I approved the addition of more SROs. Now, each Edmond high school has two SROs, and Boulevard Academy and the middle schools each have one SRO. The Edmond Police Department also encourages their field officers to complete paperwork in school parking lots, enhancing their presence around our schools to help keep students safe. For more information, visit EPS site.
Critical Race Theory (CRT) Is Not Being Taught in Our Schools
Oklahoma House Bill 1775 bans CRT in public schools. EPS is not teaching CRT nor has the district received any formal complaints regarding CRT being taught in our schools.
