Meet Marcus Jones
I am a husband, Christian and father of two girls who are ages 10 and 6. Both of our girls currently attend EPS so we have vested interest in the success of EPS. I attended Edmond Public Schools as a child from Kindergarten through High School. I attended Oklahoma State University where I received my Bachelors in Management Information Systems. I currently work for a small software company as a developer.
I was appointed to the position of EPS School Board District #5 on November 1st, 2021. The application process began back in September of 2021 after the position became vacant. The Board did interviews in October of 2021 and announced the decision at the November board meeting. When my name was announced I was shocked and excited at the opportunity to be an asset for EPS. I am able to bring a parent perspective, former student perspective and my background in technology to the Board.
I am running to be a School Board Member because I want to be able to help Edmond Public Schools continue to excel at teaching the next generation. The Board makes big decisions on a host of different topics from infrastructure, to staffing requirements. I believe as a parent in the district I have a good pulse on how kids, parents, and teachers enjoy our district. I am a good listener which is key in a role when you serve the community. I can definitely sympathize with others and use that to aid in my decision-making as a school board member. I am committed to assisting Edmond Public Schools in becoming the “gold standard” school district for education not only in Oklahoma but in the Nation.
