Meet Marcus Jones

I am a husband, Christian, and father of two daughters, aged 13 and 9, both of whom currently attend EPS. As a family, we have a vested interest in the success of the district. I grew up in Edmond, attending EPS from Kindergarten through High School. I earned my Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems from Oklahoma State University and now work as a Systems Administrator at Tinker.

I was appointed to the EPS School Board District #5 position on November 1st, 2021, following a vacancy in the role. The application process began in September 2021, with interviews taking place in October. When my name was announced at the November board meeting, I was both shocked and excited about the opportunity to contribute to EPS. Since then, I successfully ran in the 2022 campaign and have been serving District 5. I bring a unique perspective as a parent, former student, and professional with a background in technology to the Board.

I am running to retain my seat on the School Board because I am dedicated to helping Edmond Public Schools continue its tradition of excellence in educating the next generation. The Board is responsible for making important decisions on a wide range of issues, from infrastructure to staffing needs. As a parent in the district, I have a strong understanding of how students, parents, and teachers experience our schools. I have always been a good listener, which is essential in serving the community effectively. By empathizing with others, I am able to make thoughtful, informed decisions as a school board member. I am committed to supporting Edmond Public Schools in maintaining its reputation as the “gold standard” for education, not only in Oklahoma but across the nation.
